چکیده
Symptomatic supraventricular tachycardia is a common indication for radiofrequency catheter ablation treatment. Often, supraventricular tachycardia is associated with sick sinus syndrome, which requires the implantation of a permanent pacemaker. Underlying structural heart diseases such as complex congenital anomalies or a history of prior cardiac surgery can hinder successful procedural treatment for these arrhythmias. We report a case of tachycardia and bradycardia that was complicated by several congenital cardiac anomalies and a prior cardiac surgery, and that was treated successfully. Case

A surgical case of combined valvular disease complicated by absent right superior vena cava and persistent left superior vena cava.
A 74-year-old man with combined valvular disease with a recent cerebral infarction was admitted. While undergoing thorough examination for valvular disease, absent right superior vena cava (RSVC) and persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) were recognized. Chest X-ray film suggested a right arch protrusion, and CT and venogram confirmed the diagnosis. During surgery, replacement of the mitra...

Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is a rare disorder which is asymptomatic and hence is usually discovered while performing interventions through the left subclavian vein. We present a case of a 78-year-old male who was undergoing elective placement of a permanent pacemaker for tachycardia - bradycardia syndrome with post-conversion pauses of up to nine seconds. After achieving access ...
متن کاملDetection of a Left Superior Vena Cava during a Pacemaker Implantation in Cotonou
Persistent left superior vena cava (LSVC) is a rare congenital anomaly. Its prevalence in the general population is 0.1 to 0.5%. LSVC is 5 times rarer when accompanied by an absence of the right superior vena cava (RSVC). We present the case of a 54-year-old man who carries a persistent LSVC without RSVC. Clinically, this patient presented a regular bradycardia at 40 per minute associated with ...

Implantation of a single-chamber pacemaker was planned in an 83-year-old woman with sick-sinus syndrome causing dizziness, bradycardia and tachycardia. After puncture of the right subclavian vein it proved impossible to advance a guide-wire into the superior vena cava, under fluoroscopy the wire always being seen to coil in the left subclavian vein and hence passing into a caudally directed vei...
متن کاملMediastinal Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of Unknown Origin Presenting with Superior Vena Cava Syndrome (SVCS): A Case Report
Primary neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) of the mediastinum is a rare type of carcinoma. According to the literature, only five cases of this condition have been reported so far. In this paper, we present a rare case of mediastinal NEC of unknown primary site. The patient was a 34-year-old man with mediastinal NEC, who presented with chronic dry cough and a right-sided mediastinal mass one year p...
